New Subaru WRX & Outback Achieve Top-Rated Safety Award

Subaru WRX and Outback Receive Safety Award

The new Subaru Outback and WRX offer much more than good looks, high-end features and exceptional performance, they also provide passengers with award-winning safety gear. Both models were recently awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s prestigious 2017 Top Safety Pick+ accolade.

The Outback and WRX both scored very well in a variety of IIHS tests, including moderate overlap, side impact, roof crash and rear impact. Equipped with EyeSight technology, the vehicles also ranked high in crash prevention testing.

Neither model is a stranger to winning such a high honor either. For the Outback, it has been named an IIHS Top Safety Pick for the last six years, while the WRX has earned the same recognition for the last three.

“Subaru is committed to developing the highest safety standards for our vehicles,” said Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “Receiving the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award for all our 2018 models equipped with EyeSight and LED Steering Responsive Headlights proves this commitment to our customers.”

Standard, the models come equipped with several high-quality airbags, antilock brakes and seatbelt pretensioners. Select models are also offered with a variety of driver aids, including rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking and forward collision alert.
