The five-passenger four-door is offered in four trim levels: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited. The 2.5 and 3.6 designations refer to each trim's engine. There's the 175-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and the 256-hp, 3.6-liter six-cylinder, which are both mated to a continuously variable transmission with manual-shift capable paddles that are conveniently integrated directly into the steering wheel for easy access.

This year, the CVT is the sole transmission available and Edmunds.com's 2015 Subaru Legacy review says it "does an excellent job of extracting the most performance from both engines," each of which delivers a substantial increase in fuel economy. The 2.5-liter now achieves an EPA-estimated 26 city/36 highway mpg, up several points from last year's 24 city/32 highway mpg. The six-cylinder also gets a good sized bump in its ratings, offering 10 percent greater efficiency for the new model year.

Legacy has also increased interior and truck capacity, offering enhanced comfort for passengers and improved cargo carrying ability. With its increased size, the sedan now features the most passenger space in the midsize car segment. It also remains the only car in its class to offer a standard all-wheel-drive system, and further expands its safety prowess for 2015 by offering Subaru's EyeSight system, a driver-assist technology that helped Legacy earn an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus (TPS+) title.

In addition to its available new EyeSight system, you'll find that every 2015 Subaru Legacy in Springfield now comes standard with a new infotainment system that's fronted by a 6.2-inch touch-screen display! The system includes HD Radio, STARLINK smartphone integration, Bluetooth Hands-free Phone, iPod capability, a rear vision camera and other great features.
