Ward's "10 Best Engines" list is officially out and we're pleased to announce that the 2015 Subaru WRX model's 2.0L turbocharged boxer engine earned a top spot. New to the Subaru lineup this year, the 2.0L engine offers phenomenal power, excellent torque and top-notch performance, which led to its inclusion on this year's prestigious "10 Best" list.
An assortment of 37 powertrains were evaluated for Ward's annual collection. The WRX's 268-horsepower 2.0L direct-injection turbocharged engine was an easy pick for the list due to its ability to deliver great power and torque with a smaller displacement (the previous model featured a 2.5L engine). The engine, which can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic, also delivers exceptional performance on Subaru's signature Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive platform. It achieves better fuel efficiency as well when fitted with the manual transmission and is complemented by a chassis that creates smooth ride quality.
Subaru's 2.0L turbocharged boxer engine isn't the first variant to make Ward's "10 Best Engines" list. In 2013, the BRZ's Subaru FA Series 2.0L boxer engine also gained recognition on the list.
