Footage of Subaru’s recent record-breaking lap at the Isle of Man TT Course has finally been released to the public and it’s nothing short of exhilarating. Seeing professional rally driver Mark Higgins trump his previous record while behind the wheel of the 2016 Subaru WRX STI Time Attack car, is something everyone Subaru fan should get the opportunity to witness.
With an average lap speed of 128.73 mph and a time of 17 minutes and 35 seconds, Higgins conquered the 37-mile of Isle of Man TT Course. He destroyed his prior record of 116.47 mph and a time of 19 minutes and 26 seconds, which he also nabbed using a modified WRX STI. Aside from his first-class driving skills, Higgins’ achievement can be attributed to the specialized WRX STI Time Attack car; a joint creation between Subaru Technica International and Prodrive.
"The chassis on this new car is fantastic to drive. It makes a difference driving a car custom designed for this course,” said Higgins. “It really allowed me to pick up time in each sector in the more technical parts of the course."
