What's New for the 2019 Subaru WRX?

In 2018, the Subaru WRX underwent a design change that restyled both its interior and its exterior. This year, the WRX sees only modest changes, which come in the form of safety improvements and more standard technology. The infotainment center, which is your central portal for audio and connectivity, gets a larger standard screen on the base models.

Additionally, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which were previously only standard on select models before, are now standard across the board. In 2019, even the base model has multiple USB charging ports - including two in the back row - to make sure all your devices are ready for use when needed. This year, select trims will be available in a limited edition Gray Scale color. In addition to the standard amenities, you'll find a variety of optional amenities at every trim level.

Which Features does the 2019 WRX Have for 2019?

In the latest model year, you have a choice of five trim levels in the WRX. The base model, which is simply called the WRX, features a number of salient amenities. With this vehicle, you'll get a plethora of features including the STARLINK multimedia system displayed on a 6.5-inch screen, a six-speed manual transmission, and a rigid, sporty suspension. Progressing to the WRX Premium, you'll add 18-inch alloy wheels, a power-operated moonroof, and heated front seats. In the technology section, there is a larger (seven-inch) infotainment display screen in this model with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The WRX Limited adds to the Premium amenities with an enhanced safety and security system, a push-button start with keyless entry, and a driver's seat that moves in 10 ways. The Limited also offers brighter LED headlights that move in the direction that you're traveling. Navigation is available with this trim level's infotainment system to help you get where you need to go in confidence.

The next trim level is the WRX STI. With this trim, you'll get a track-tuned suspension, symmetrical AWD, high-performance Brembo brakes, and performance-oriented seats. Nineteen-inch alloy wheels are standard on this level and the STI Limited. The WRX STI Limited, which is the top-level trim, gives you an infotainment system with integrated navigation. It also has keyless entry with a push-button start. Inside, the interior is refined and upscale with leather seats. More standard safety features are on the STI Limited too, including rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot monitoring. Along with the standard features, you can accent your STI Limited with a variety of optional packages and add-on accessories.

2019 Subaru WRX with Strong Performance

There are two engines that power the 2019 WRX. The first, which is on the three lowest-level models, is a 2.0L, turbo-charged, four-cylinder engine that generates up to 268 HP at 5,600 RPM and up to 258 LB-FT of torque between 2,000 and 5,200 RPM. The second engine, which is standard on the WRX STI and the WRX STI Limited, is a more powerful 2.5L, four-cylinder, turbo-charged engine that produces up to 310 HP at 6,000 RPM and up to 290 LB-FT of torque at 4,000-5,200 RPM. Both engines are paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Sporty paddle shifters are available on select trim levels to make even your most ordinary driving adventures feel like you're on the race track.

Subaru WRX Safety

Subaru is known for its safety, and the WRX is certainly proof of that. Front, side, and driver's knee airbags are designed to deploy if you're hit on any side in a collision. The seat belts all have head restraints specially designed to help avoid whiplash. Subaru EyeSight technology, which features lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking to avoid frontal collisions, and adaptive cruise control monitored by radar, are features in this safety package, which is available on certain models. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the STI Limited and optional on the lower-level trims.
