Subaru has taken the sheets of the refreshed 2017 Forester and we have to admit that we like what we see. Arriving at Reliable Subaru this July, the revised model comes with new styling enhancements that boost its appeal, newly modified Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technology and available torque vectoring on the 2.0L turbo. MPG ratings on the 2.5L CVT models have also improved, leading to greater fuel efficiency.
If you’ve seen the current 2016 Subaru Forester, you’ll notice a few differences when the 2017 model hits the market. For the new model year, the compact SUV features a new grille with horizontal bars, C-shaped LED running lights within the headlights and a revised front fascia on natural-aspirated models. Additionally, the car now comes with an acoustic glass windshield, a redesigned steering wheel, thicker door glass and new seal to help deliver a quieter ride.
Subaru’s Eyesight safety system has also been updated for 2017, adding colored cameras that provide a longer field of view when reading the road ahead. The system also includes certain features, such as Lane Keep Assist, Reverse Automatic Braking, Steering Responsive Headlights and High Beam Assist on select models.
On the performance front, the Forester’s engine has been slightly tweaked on the 2.5 CVT models, which has resulted in improved MPG ratings. These models now deliver an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city, 32 mpg highway and 28 mpg combined, making them a bit more fuel-efficient than 2016 models. Aside from these benefits, the Forester 2.0XT Touring is available with Active Torque Vectoring for the first time, improving handling.
To see and test out each of these new features for yourself, look out for the 2017 Forester at Reliable Subaru this summer.
