Image: Subaru Driver Pastrana Takes Class Win, Podium at Southern Ohio Rally

Subaru has been known for producing dependable cars, trucks, and other vehicles for decades. So, it’s no surprise the brand made a strong impression at the Southern Ohio Forest Rally (SOFR) in June. Driver Travis Pastrana claimed victory in his class and secured a third-place overall finish—an important result in his pursuit of the American Rally Association (ARA) championship.

Which Class Did Pastrana Win?

Pastrana competed in the Limited Four-Wheel Drive (L4WD) class, which included last year’s winner, Brandon Semenuk. In 2023, Semenuk held off a fierce charge from Pastrana to take the title. This time, it was Pastrana who came out on top, aided by an uncharacteristically rough performance from Semenuk. Despite the setback, Semenuk later bounced back to stay competitive in the ongoing ARA championship.

Challenging Conditions

Rainy weather made the rally particularly demanding. The wet track turned into a muddy obstacle course, far from the usual gravel surface. The slick conditions led Semenuk to veer off course, forcing him to temporarily withdraw and costing him a chance to defend his SOFR crown.

Pastrana Faced Mechanical Issues

Even though he secured the win, Pastrana’s WRX ARA25L wasn't without problems. He and his co-driver dealt with heat and humidity-related challenges during the multi-day event. While there were minor mechanical concerns, Pastrana praised the car’s overall performance and expressed excitement for what lies ahead in the season.
