Specs at a Glance

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek base and Premium both come with the same powerful BOXER engine and a similar SUV design. There are a few distinct differences you'll want to pay attention to while shopping, though. For example, the Premium throws in the convenience of a windshield de-icer that expedites travel on icy days. Pay attention to these differences between the two models before choosing one or the other.

Performance

The standard engine for both the Premium and base model is a 2.0L DOHC engine rated at 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. Each one also gets a standard 6-speed manual transmission. However, if you want to upgrade to a Lineartronic CVT transmission with an 8-speed manual mode, adaptive control, and incline start assist, only the Crosstrek Premium offers this choice.

Appearance

Both the base and Premium get the overall sleekness of the Crosstrek's design. They have a short, low-sitting front end with a blacked-out grille and a bright chrome grille bar. There is distinct black cladding over the wheels of both trims, and the roof rails are legendary on both trims. Still, there are certain features only available on the Premium. This includes fog lamps, body-color folding side mirrors, and the option for a power tilt/sliding moonroof.

Features

If you choose the Crosstrek, the interior of your model gets up to 55.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity and 100.9 cubic feet of passenger volume, so you've got some real room to work within both the base and the Premium. That's where most of the similarities end. A Premium trim delivers heated front seats, a leather-wrapped wheel, and cloth seating with orange accent stitching. None of these features are available on the Crosstrek base model. Safety differs strongly between the two models also. A Premium offers optional Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert that aren't available on the base model trim. These additions will mean a lot to some customers and not much at all to others. You can compare this model further by visiting our dealership and checking out the features of both trims.

Both the 2023 Crosstrek Base and Premium trims are great models and are available at our dealership this year. Please contact us if you'd like to learn more about either model or visit us to take a test drive of both models. Comparison test drives are usually eye-opening.
