Car Sounds and What the Issue Could Be

Squeaky Brakes

Engine Rattling

These problems result in the improper mixing of air and fuel in the engine cylinder, which causes an early ignition and can damage parts such as the connecting rods, valves, and pistons.

Knocking Under the Hood

Hearing a knocking sound under the hood requires the immediate attention of a mechanic. This noise can be caused by a more significant issue, such as a problem with the connecting rods, valves, pistons, and other major components.

Engine Squealing

Several issues can cause a squealing engine. In older vehicles, the most likely cause is loose or worn accessory belts that operate components such as the air conditioner compressor, alternator, and power steering pump. In newer vehicles, a problem with the serpentine belt may be the cause of a squealing engine.
