What's New for the 2019 Subaru Ascent?
In 2019, the Ascent joined the Subaru family for the first time. The Ascent is a three-row SUV designed to replace the Subaru Tribeca. The Ascent, which holds up to eight passengers and has 19 cup holders throughout the cabin, is bigger and more powerful than the Tribeca. With a 196.8-inch length, it's also longer than several other vehicles in its mid-size SUV class, including the Toyota Highlander and the Honda Pilot. The Ascent, made in four trim levels, is outfitted with a variety of standard tech and safety features, including touchscreen navigation and a driver's assistance package. Along with standard amenities, drivers can choose from optional add-on features for a customized ride.

Strong Trims and Futuristic Innovations
The entry-level Ascent is the base model. The base model has a healthy standard package of safety and tech features, including a three-zone climate control and intelligent all-wheel drive. The base model has three rows of convertible seats, which can be arranged to accommodate up to eight passengers. The base model rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, and its sporty exterior is accented with raised roof rails. Like all successive models, the base supports app connectivity and USB connections.
The Premium, which is the next trim, offers a flexible seating design with captain's chairs or second-row bench seats. The Premium adds a WiFi connection to the base model, and it has a maximum 5,000 LB towing capacity. The Premium comes standard with backseat climate control and heated front seats. Spill-resistant cloth seats are standard, and leather seats are optional. A leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel are added to its more refined interior. Next in line is the Limited. The Limited sits higher off the ground with 20-inch alloy wheels. It has a push-button start and keyless entry, along with a 10-way power-operated driver's seat.
The Limited also has a 5,000 LB towing capacity and a power-operated rear gate. Leather seats are available in the Limited, and the highest trim is the Touring. The Touring has captain's chairs in the second row and exclusive custom leather seats. Audio and entertainment includes a 14-speaker sound system and a navigation system. A surround front-view camera is standard on the Touring, which also has eight USB ports and a panoramic sunroof. Reclining seats, sunshades, and personal reading lights for all passengers are universal amenities on all trim levels. Furthermore, grab handles above the second-row passenger seats make accessing the third row of seats easier.
High Performance For Your Next Vehicle
Beneath the hood of the 2019 Ascent is a 2.4L turbocharged engine. The engine has a power output of 260 HP at 5,600 RPM, and it also produces up to 277 LB-FT of torque between 2,000 and 4,800 RPM. The engine is paired with an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT) with paddle shifters, and all models come with all-wheel drive. The engine is a new one for Subaru, and it makes its debut in the Ascent. The engine has enough power to support towing, which varies in capacity by trim level. The base model has 2,000 LB of towing capacity, while the three higher-trim levels all have 5,000 LB of towing capacity. The Ascent has 8.7 inches of ground clearance, making it suitable for driving off-road.
EyeSight in a Safety-Oriented Vehicle
The Ascent is a safety-oriented vehicle with a unique EyeSight assistance package Subaru's driver-assist technology. This assistance package includes frontal collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and reverse automatic braking. All trim levels have all-wheel drive and a tire pressure monitoring system. Some safety features, like rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot warning, are standard features on the upper-level trims, and they're also optional add-on accessories for the lower-level trims.
