What's New For the 2019 Subaru BRZ?

The 2019 Subaru BRZ is back and stronger than ever. In comparison to 2018 models, not too much has changed for the 2019 BRZ. The BRZ Limited now has an upgraded infotainment system, which offers a larger 7 inch screen in addition to navigation capabilities. The track-focused BRZ TS is no longer offered in the 2019 lineup. However, a new trim color has become available for the BRZ, Series Gray.

2019 Subaru BRZ Trims & Features

The 2019 Subaru BRZ is split into three separate trims, the BRZ Premium trim, the Series Gray trim, and the BRZ Limited trim. Each trim has a variety of different features that are offered as additional options. Features such as brake calipers, infotainment system amenities, and colors can be altered on each of the trims. All three trims are offered standard with infotainment systems that can be paired with wireless technology.

The newest trim for the BRZ, Series Gray, is offered with an exterior color known as "cool khaki grey". The trim's badges and mirrors are dressed in black paint to contrast the gray color. Several minor details, such as the frame of the mirror, have been altered on the trim to differentiate it from the other trims. Only 250 Series Gray BRZ models will be made for the 2019 model year, therefore it will be the rarest trim of the 2019 BRZ lineup.

2019 Subaru BRZ Horsepower

2019 Subaru BRZ Exterior FrontThe 2019 Subaru BRZ produces 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque through a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic transmission is offered as an option for BRZ limited models but the six-speed manual transmission is standard. The BRZ's 2.0 liter engine is capable of achieving 24 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway. The BRZ houses a 13.2 gallon fuel tank and uses premium unleaded fuel for its power.

2019 Subaru BRZ Safety

2019 Subaru BRZ Exterior RearThe 2019 Subaru BRZ utilizes a 4-wheel ABS system to provide stopping power. A backup camera and daytime running lights are included standard with all models. Airbags are included around the whole cabin to protect occupants in the event of an airbag-inducing accident. Traction control is also included standard on all BRZ models, helping their four wheels stay planted to any given surface at any given time.

The 2019 Subaru BRZ does not currently have full ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The model has scored several "good" ratings from the IIHS in their crash-safety examinations. The IIHS awarded the 2019 BRZ an "acceptable" rating in its small-overlap crash test.
