There have been recent talks that Toyota may be signing a new joint venture with BMW, and with rumors swirling, many have wondered what that means for their partnership with Subaru. Toyota's chief of engineering, Tetsuya Tada, recently made claims in an interview that Subaru's future involvement with the automaker was unclear, but Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, has officially come out to deny those claims. In fact, they also said a second-generation BRZ, a car created in conjunction with Toyota, is currently in the works.

When asked about Tada's initial comments about the uncertainty of Subaru's partnership with Toyota, President of FHI, Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, told Automotive News, "If I were to be told that, I'd pass out." Made possible due to Subaru's connection with Toyota, the BRZ would be non-existent if the two company's parted ways, but if you ask Yoshinaga, that's not in the plans. He confirmed that the BRZ is expected to receive a second-generation model and Toyota will continue to play a huge part in its development. There's no word as to when the next-generation sports car will see the light of day, but the confirmation about its future is all that fans need for the time being.

If you want to test-drive first-generation BRZ while you wait for the next one to arrive, you can find the 2014 Subaru BRZ available now at Reliable Subaru.
