Subaru has been steadily working on their future plans, and as of recently, they have revealed a few of their upcoming endeavors to the public. In line with the company's goals to increase their North American sales, a new modular platform will arrive in 2016, which will support their newly implemented efforts to utilize more fuel-efficient, direct-injection engines. An all-new seven-seat SUV may also be built using the new platform, serving as the next Tribeca, and backing the automaker's U.S. sales initiatives.

With the new Subaru Global Platform in place, the brand will have room to incorporate a range of innovative technologies, and rumors are already swirling that thermal efficiency and cylinder deactivation could find their way into future cars. There's also talks of a possible plug-in hybrid car entering the lineup, but as of now, no decisions have been made. However, what we do know about Subaru's future plans is that the seven-seat Tribeca successor could debut sometime between 2016 and 2020. At that time, Subaru's revised direct-injection engines will also be unveiled to the masses, showcasing the automaker's new focus on fuel efficiency.
