Subaru is a strong supporter of in-car pet safety, and to help promote the cause, the automaker has announced it will continue to aid the Center for Pet Safety's future efforts. The non-profit organization, which works toward raising awareness for pet safety and educates pet owners on vehicle safety, has been closely working with Subaru since 2013 to carry out their mission and will benefit from the brand's assistance on upcoming projects.
It's a little known fact that out of 56 percent of Americans who travel with pets, one in five admit to driving with their pet on their lap. This is an alarming statistic Subaru hopes to change by promoting pet safety and backing the Center for Pet Safety's all-new initiative centered on the testing of animal crates and carriers in car accidents. The organization plans to analyze the structure and performance of each product, and determine which ones will keep your pet secure in the event of a car crash.
"No performance standards or test protocols currently exist in the U.S. for pet crates or carriers, and while many pet safety product manufacturers claim to test their products, they can't be substantiated without uniform test standards and protocols," said Lindsey Wolko, Center for Pet Safety's founder and CEO. "We are very excited to once again have the support of Subaru, allowing the independent examination of pet crates and carriers. Subaru understands the importance of safety of all passengers including our four-legged friends."
With more than 69 percent of Subaru drivers owning at least one dog, the brand believes it is responsible for educating their customers on in-car pet safety. Outback, Forester and all Subaru owners alike will benefit from the company’s continual efforts to improve in-car pet safety.
