
There’s no better place to celebrate Irish culture and the magic that surrounds it than at the 36th Annual Springfield St. Patrick’s Day Parade! Taking place on Saturday, March 19, 2016, this popular event is one of the largest St. Patty’s Day celebrations in all of Springfield. It draws in hundreds of people each year looking to a get glimpse of creative floats and enjoy live entertainment.
To get a prime viewing spot at this year’s Springfield St. Patrick’s Day Parade, arrive early and set up shop along Boonville Avenue. The parade is scheduled to kick off at 2 p.m. on Benton Avenue and Commercial Street before making its way to Boonville. In addition to nabbing a great viewing location, those who arrive early will get the chance to watch the Irish Pet Contest held on the Jefferson Avenue Footbridge at 12:30 p.m. If you have a four-legged friend, you can opt to get in on the action by registering your pet online.
During the parade, various street vendors will also be onsite beginning at 12 p.m. An official after party celebration and awards ceremony will be held following the parade at Patton Alley Pub, located at 313 S. Patton Ave.
