Specs at a Glance

Designed to accommodate up to eight passengers, the 2022 Subaru Ascent is the biggest SUV in Subaru’s lineup. Your family will love its great everyday comfort. A rugged design also makes the Ascent great for taking off-road adventures. Let’s find out how the base Ascent compares to the Ascent Premium.

Performance

Expect these Ascent trims to offer the same muscular performance. Under the hood rests a turbocharged Boxer four-cylinder engine, which cranks out 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. This is enough muscle to tow up to 5,000 pounds. A Lineartronic continuously variable transmission helps ensure a smooth and effortless driving experience. Subaru’s full-time Symmetrical AWD system comes standard throughout the lineup. When approaching more difficult terrain, you can activate the SUV’s X-Mode system for more control and enhanced traction.

Appearance

The 2022 Subaru’s Ascent’s upscale styling helps it to stand out on the street. Even the base model features raised roof rails and LED headlights. Rugged fenders further accentuate this SUV’s adventurous design. When comparing the base Ascent to the Ascent Premium, don’t expect to notice any significant exterior differences. However, there are a greater number of paint color options available for the Premium trim. This includes Autumn Green Metallic, Crimson Red Pearl, and Brilliant Bronze Metallic.

Features

The base Ascent is a serious value. It comes loaded with today’s hottest features. Subaru’s easy-to-use Starlink Multimedia infotainment system features a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. Standard EyeSight driver-assist technologies, such as pre-collision braking and lane-keep assist, give you greater confidence on the road. Other key features include satellite radio, tri-zone automatic climate control, and four USB ports.

If you crave more luxury, step up to the Ascent Premium. Everyone in your family can benefit from its 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Featuring heated seats and a windshield wiper de-icer, the Premium trim’s All-Weather Package makes life in the winter more enjoyable. Meanwhile, safety is enhanced by a blind-spot monitoring system. Subaru also upgrades the Premium trim with a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen, a rear climate control panel, and an eight-way power driver’s seat.
