What's New For the 2021 Subaru Ascent?
The 2021 Subaru Ascent offers many of the same features consumers have enjoyed in the past. This year's Ascent excels in several key areas, including safety and technology. It is also a rugged crossover engineered to handle exploring off-road terrain, with high ground clearance to match. All trims of the latest Ascent have a reclining third-row seat. Each trim varies slightly in the amenities, such as second-row bench seats or captain's chairs, power tilt/sliding moonroof and optional wheel upgrades.
2021 Ascent Trims & Features
As with last year, the 2021 Subaru Ascent family includes four trims. The first trim is the base Ascent. This entry-level Ascent gets some notable standard features in the technology department, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. Spacing in the interior cabin allows for seating up to eight occupants.
The next trim in the lineup is the Premium. This trim gets higher-end interior materials with stain-resistant cloth upholstery. It upgrades to a larger 8-inch multimedia screen as well. Connectivity is accommodated with the inclusion of a 4G WiFi hotspot. Starting with this Ascent trim, you can choose between a seating capacity of seven or eight by replacing the second-row seats with dual captain's chairs. The Premium has larger 20-inch wheels and a more substantial towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. Leather seats are upgrades on the Limited and Touring. Captain's chairs are standard when selecting the top-level Touring trim, with other notable features like the panoramic moonroof and Harman Kardon sound system.
2021 Subaru Ascent Horsepower
All 2021 Ascent trims share the same 2.4L turbocharged, four-cylinder engine. This engine delivers a power output of 260 HP. It also produces up to 277 LB-FT in torque. The engine is matched to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) in all four trims. All-wheel drive is the Subaru Ascent's standard powertrain.

Subaru Ascent Safety
The EyeSight package of driver-assist safety technologies is standard on all Ascent trims. This forward-thinking safety package monitors surrounding traffic conditions to help you stay in control and safe. The Ascent's safety package includes advanced adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-center assist.
