Why Is My Car Shaking?
  Â
Your vehicle can shake, rattle, and vibrate anytime something isn't working quite right. You may experience problems when you're at a normal rate of speed when you're accelerating, or when you're braking. Some issues may even occur only when you're going around corners. Whatever the situation is, Reliable Subaru is equipped to diagnose these problems and provide you with the repairs you need to get back on the road.
Shaking Caused by Engine Trouble
Your engine should function with enough airflow passing through it and the proper amount of power, thanks to your air filter and spark plugs. If these components are not working properly, you will experience shaking or vibrations. Expect service to be needed on your spark plugs once you hit 80,000 miles. Most air filters last for about 15,000 miles before needing to be replaced.
Service for Your Brakes
Pressing down on your brake and experiencing shaking can be caused by the need for new brake pads. Brake pads last for about 50,000 miles, but the time frame can be far less if you're prone to pressing on the brake more frequently than another driver. We will look at your brake pads' quality when we have your vehicle in our service center for another related service.
Problems With Wheel Function
Wheels should be balanced and serviced regularly. Because your wheels and tires are your primary touchpoint with the road, there's a lot that gets thrown out of balance while you're driving. This is especially true if you live somewhere that has a lot of potholes or rough terrain. Watch out for shaking that occurs at certain speeds and goes away when you slow down.
Axles
The axles that pass across your vehicle to connect the front and back wheels are just a thin rod of metal that can easily become damaged when you experience some impact while driving. The shaking will occur when these axles turn around and around while in motion.
Tire Malfunction
The last thing you want to happen when you're driving at high speeds on the road is to have your tires become loose or misaligned. We can give each tire a once-over to see if it's functioning properly. We'll also give you some insight into whether or not you'll be needing new tires soon. This provides you with the opportunity to budget.
Don't hesitate to set up an appointment with one of the professionals at our service center if your vehicle experiences shaking. Even if the shaking only occurs momentarily, we want to make sure that your vehicle is as safe as it can be while on the road.
